Members of Missouri State Legislature attend Healthcare Career Day
The First Annual Healthcare Career Day for High School Counselors and Science Teachers was an astounding success! More then 70 participants from the four state area attended the event, which was held Friday, April 15th at MSSU in Joplin.

34 exhibitors provided information relative to their academic programs and 17 healthcare professionals presented information regarding their respective careers.

Local members of the Missouri State Legislature were also in attendance. As we continue to address the local, state and national workforce shortages their guidance will be critical. The Four State Health Professions Consortium looks forward to the opportunity to provide this valuable career fair again in the future.

Health Care in Critical Care - June 19, 2002
The large and growing shortage of nurses is itself a pressing problem and it is also a symptom of the looming healthcare cost crisis. It is no surprise that there is a shortage of nurses, since shortages have been commonplace for over 25 years. Today, over 126,000 nurses are needed to fill hospital vacancies, and over 75% of all hospital personnel vacancies are for nurses.
